About the role

We’re looking for a graduate to join our Reviews and System Capability team. This business group undertakes large scale regulatory reviews, smaller investigations of issues that come through our red tape tipline, and provides guidance, learning and tools for regulators. You can learn more about regulatory reviews here.

What you’ll be doing

From day one, you’ll be involved in meaningful work. This could include:

• conducting research on regulatory issues

• supporting stakeholder meetings

• talking to submitters about the regulatory issues they have raised

• submissions analysis and identifying themes

• taking complex information and turning it into plain English

• creating diagrams and visual tools to explain complex ideas.

No two weeks will look the same – and that’s exactly the point.

Who we’re looking for

You might be the right fit if you:

• have completed or are about to complete your degree. You may have studied:

  • law

  • economics

  • public policy

  • political science

  • or something else that required you to learn how to write well and hone your critical thinking skills

• are ready to start in late February 2027

• are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident

• are willing to relocate to Wellington.

We’re also looking for people who:

• are curious and keen to learn

• enjoy solving problems and working with others

• bring initiative and a willingness to give things a go

• have some experience outside study (work, volunteering, leadership, or community involvement).
