Myth Busting

MYTH #1

“You have to go to certain schools to get hired”

This couldn’t be further from the truth. All of our staff from graduates to partners come from a range of schools all over New Zealand (both public and private).

We do not care what school you went to – we care whether you are smart, driven and interesting!

MYTH #2

“Competition for a graduate role is fierce”

We only hire the number of summer clerks for which we have a graduate position available.

This means there is a graduate spot there for you to secure through your good performance over the summer – you aren’t competing with others for a limited number of spots!

MYTH #3

“The Factory...”

We are committed to the health and wellbeing of our employees and are regularly recognised as an Employer of Choice. Our staff get to work on high profile, complicated transactions – they love this, as we’re sure you will too.

We have policies designed to recognise and support the hard work we do and to enable our staff to maintain their interests outside of work.

At Russell McVeagh, you’ll also get involved with pro bono work which helps us to play an important role giving back to the communities in which we work and live.

MYTH #4

“The partners are old-school”

The average age of our partners is only 42, and while this might mean that some of them are older (don’t tell them we said that), they certainly aren’t “old-school”.

Russell McVeagh is a workplace committed to diversity in all forms and equal employment opportunities and this is reflected throughout our firm and our partnership. In fact, we lead our closest competitors in terms of women representation at partner level.

HR TEAM

We have an HR team with staff dedicated to the summer clerk programme to ensure your summer is the best that it can be, and that you come away having had a positive experience.
